“And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.  I will give you the keys to the Kingdom of heaven.  Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you lose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

In the Gospel, Jesus explained to his disciples how He had willingly chosen to accept His Father’s will as He was confident of His Father’s love and faithfulness, that would help Him conquer evil and death.

Today, we remember St Jean Marie Vianney, Patron of Diocesan Priests. His spirituality was so infectious that he managed to fill the hearts of the morally neglected with the love of God. His long hours in the confessional, his patience and humility, his life of prayer and austerity were and will continue to be a great source of inspiration to both religious and lay people.
