Sounds a little awkward. I have blogged about what prayer is to me. I have blogged about why I talk to God. I have blogged about why else do I turn to God. All these blogs are written in a few words on a page. Have you read the prayers written by saints? Have you heard the prayers in bible study groups? Have you heard the prayers of pastors and priests? They are long and all encompassing. I am not a skilled person in prayers and my prayers are short and awkward. Why pray?
(So I redirect my thoughts. . .) Who says prayers need to be in perfect form? And, that you have to be skilled in Theology? And, that you have to have the right quotes? And, that it has to take the perfect form like how a tree is created by God with seeds, leaves, flowers, xylem and phloem? (Try praying) How are your prayers?
No matter how your prayers take form, I just want to add that they are important like everyone else’s. My daughter said, “I pray to connect with God.” This is an important purpose of prayer, to connect with God. It is the only way I know how to talk to him – to make a solemn request or to thank Him. Often, when I am driving, I would pray, whether it be the Father’s prayer or just words I utter. And, He hears me. I pray in the morning before breakfast. Today, I prayed the novena in the middle of the afternoon. I pray while I walk. Prayer in my form is the most important to me. And, as I pray more, I repeat certain phrases, which is fine. Jesus always listens and the more I pray, the easier the formation of the prayer.
So prayer for my daughter and me is a way to connect to God. The form is yours. The purpose is prime.
