How do circumstances change your life story?

I love my mom dearly and I pray, most of all, to always give her respect when she voices her opinion about God and religion.

She says, “I love the TV show, Lucifer!”  (For those who do not know, Lucifer is aka Satan.)  I was speechless for a moment.  How could she have praised watching Lucifer to a God-fearing daughter!  Then because I was baptized, the Holy Spirit reminded me that she is my mother.  Also, she has come this far in life to grow to be a strong person.  She is doing the best she can despite her elderly age. She is growing old gracefully.  It sounds good, right?

As I look at the sun rising through my window, I am reminded that I should always try to understand my circumstances of her opinions about God and religion.  These are some of her views and my circumstances.

  • She hurts me. . .she says, “There are many gods!” – while there is only One True God.
  • She hurts me. . .she says, “It is wrong to attribute everything to God.” – while I am always grateful to God for everything.
  • She hurts me. . .she says, “I love the TV show, Lucifer!”  – while I abhor Satan and anything that has to do with it.
  • She hurts me. . .she says, “I cannot help you when you are sick if I cannot take care of myself.” – while I am the one suffering from mental illness, depression, and anxiety.

My circumstances:

  • While I certainly have the right to rebuke her, I chose not to.  Often I remain silent and just listen because I was baptized and the Holy Spirit or the little voice in my head just says that that moment was the time to be silent.
  • While I certainly have the right to rebuke her, I chose not to.  The Holy Spirit or the little voice in my head suggests taking her comments lightheartedly with a non-judgemental joke to make her laugh and be happy.
  • While I certainly have the right to rebuke her, I chose not to.  Instead, I encourage her to speak her opinion.  After all, I am grateful she takes the time to converse with me and I am grateful she feels she has the right to speak her mind to me.  I may not agree with her but my husband always says that it is good to respect other people’s opinions.  So, I encourage her.

Although my response may seem to give a lot of power in speech to my mother, I chose to react the way I did to align my choices with my respect for her (and with my faith).  How would you choose to respond given you are in a similar position?  Remember, reader, that your choices are your life story that you will be telling God when you are face to face with Him.  But, that is another blog I will blog about later.

Hello would you mind stating which blog platform you’re working with? I’m planning to start my own blog soon but I’m having a difficult time making a decision between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something unique. P.S Sorry for being off-topic but I had to ask!|

Good afternoon readers! Many of you have asked about my website design, plugins, etc. I have a host service with ReadersMagnet. If you sign up and mention my name, you will get $250.00 off your next service with them. Reader, if you decide you want to learn more about hosting with my publisher, please give me your email address and name. You can send your contact information to [email protected]. I will forward it to my consultant. I have been working with them for almost two years and am quite happy with them, especially because I do not know how to web host on my own.

I have read your article carefully and I agree with you very much. This has provided a great help for my thesis writing, and I will seriously improve it. However, I don’t know much about a certain place. Can you help me? https://www.gate.io/tr/signup/XwNAUwgM?ref_type=103
