Annoying people

There are many annoying circumstances and they often involve other people.  Here’s mine.

My co-worker thrives to waste other people’s time.  One time, while he was working with me, he disappeared.  I went to look for him out of curiosity and found him chatting with a big wig about something.  It was obvious it had nothing to do with work.  Anyway, I left upset that he made me wait.  Another time, I had completed 4 days of work and looked for him to review the work.  I found him.  Then, he turned down my work and 4 days of work went to waste.  He did this constantly over 3 years.  The work over 3 years was still not completed.  One day within these 3 years, he bragged that he knew how to waste time at work!

This went on for over 3 years and every time he came to me, I had to attend to him immediately.  So, one day, I said to myself enough is enough.  The annoyance I felt got me emotionally sick because it seemed like I was incompetent especially when my supervisor assessed the time it took to do the work.  I had enough, so God decided I needed to take care of myself and him.  Today, I did what this co-worker instructed (again).  But I talked to him kindly and compassionately.  God whispered that this man wasted other people’s time because he hated his low pay.  God also reminded me that this man had also told me that he was a veteran, half-deaf from a war injury, and a diabetic, among other ailments.  God put the task in me to be kind and compassionate to this man.  At around 10:30 a.m., I left him a St. Augustine’s Divine Mercy Chaplet which has the words, Jesus, I Trust in You.  I left him a note that I had to give away 3 prayer cards and this one was for him.  The annoyance I felt towards him went away.  I felt peace.  God decided I needed to take care of myself and him.

There are many annoying circumstances and they often involve other people.  I chose to no longer be annoyed by this person.  God granted me the grace.  I think it is the grace of charity.

I fervently prayed,

St. Augustine’s Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy. Act in me, O Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy. Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit, that I love but what is holy. Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit, to defend all that is holy. Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, that I always may be holy.

Amen.

Have you met any person that annoys you?  Did you try to ask God to take care of you and the other person?  Maybe St. Augustine’s Prayer to the Holy Spirit will help if you repeat it (before you encounter the person).  Don’t be hasty to have this work right away.  But, you never know, because I know God loves you.
